August is always a special month for the Washington Heads of Office Leadership Council led by Co-founders Bradley Knox and Molly Njeru Ryan, and Board member Clifton J. Porter II. Each year, we host a special welcome reception celebrating summer’s end on the beautiful Martha’s Vineyards. It’s a wonderful time to bring together our WHOOLC members, supporters, and friends of the organization.
This year, WHOOLC was honored to have U.S. Representative Barbara Lee as a special guest. Representative Lee is a tireless advocate for communities of color, and she is doing amazing work representing California’s 13th District. Also joining us was Dr. Ted Love, President, and CEO of Global Blood Therapeutics, an innovative company that is leading the way in the discovery and development of treatments for blood-based disorders.
The event was extra special as we celebrated the recent retirement of one of our long-serving WHOOLC members, Antoinette Bush, who most recently worked at NewsCorp, is now on to the next chapter in her amazing story and we wish her all the best.
A special thank you to our sponsors, Bradley Knox, Aflac; Tamar Thompson, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; Mayealie Adams, JD/MBA, Danaher Corporation; and Molly Njeru Ryan, Global Blood Therapeutics for their support, and to our illustrious Executive Director Mariko Bennett and the tireless efforts of her COCO B. Productions crew that made this weekend a resounding success!
